Feel was a on the thinner side and lack creaminess. Flavors were intense and herbal with a fairly strong bitterness that lingers a bit long and detracts from the drinkability. Aromas were a bit subdued, particularly the hop aromas, and were evenly balanced. Boozy heat emerges from the middle to the finish, Finished semi-dryly with a strong lingering pine hop bitter aftertaste surrounded by herbal notes. Medium high, spicy hop bitterness through the middle that carries through to the end. Medium high herbal hop flavors up front with light flora notes beneath. Pleasant warmth from the middle to the end. Medium bodied with medium light carbonation and a very smooth feel through the middle. Medium floral, herbal and over-ripe pineapple aromas with medium light maltiness beneath. Poured with a thick, creamy, dense, bright white foam with excellent retention. Golden yellow in color with near perfect clarity. Finish was dry, bitter, catty, dank & just the way I would want it. It was not so bitter as to be puckering or off-putting, but when I rail against the modern tropical hop flavors, I would be remiss if I did not rave about one that taste the way that I expect. This was more in line with what I expect from an AIPA - it was quite bitter, very citrusy with grapefruit & lemon peel leading the way, underscored by Simcoe the Kitty & her cattiness, backed up with an earthy maltiness and then finished with honeydew melon which was not terribly sweet, either. Pine, melon, tropical fruits, slight dank, some cattiness and an earthy maltiness were all in evidence on the nose. Nose did not have the cattiness that I expected from a beer with "Simcoe" so prevalent in its name, but no matter. Color was a gorgeous Yellow-Gold with NE-quality clarity, calling forth The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus, all vying for a taste. An in-glass swirl raised a finger of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with good retention that left behind nice lacing in its wake. I Crack!ed the CAN open & began a slow, gentle pour into the awaiting glass. Somehow we find him unbelievable irresistible and stimulating because he is one of the few that masters the ability to effortlessly impress with wide-ranging conversation even though he was not even supposed to be here today." I have a couple/few days' worth left, but since my 53rd birthday is next Sunday (Week 679) & I have plans that may curtail my involvement that day, I am getting them in while I CAN.įrom the CAN: "Despite his bitterness, lack of power and insuperable aversion to any over-the-counter labor- he kind of has a charming charisma, and perhaps he is even lovable. I am rather inCANredulous at how many CANs of Evil Twin Brewing's beer I have acCANumulated for inclusion in The CANQuest (tm)! I had begun running through them at the end of New Beer Sunday (Week 677) & CANtinued my efforts yesterday during NBS (Week 678) so now I am simply finishing up.
